- Self Audit: Anything you’ve done nagging your conscience? Regret is only useful if it leads to a plan on how to improve. Me, I reinstalled PokémonGo over the holidays so I could be the cool aunt. I have to spend time thinking about trade offs, examining location settings, and deciding what real coolness looks like.
Continuing Set Up:
- Have you gotten all your passwords into a password manager? Get a few more in.
- Buffed up passwords and enabled 2FA where possible? (great 12 days of 2FA series by EFF) Keep going.
- Review the list of OneThing articles so far and pick one to catch up on.
Sweep
- Updated software recently? Pick a new device to check on today.
- Backups still running?
- Delete a low quality app from your phone.
- Delete an account.
- Double check privacy settings on your phone, social media accounts that must be kept.

Where do you scan for news? I keep an eye out for recent exploits and breaches that have come to light, new tools, interesting idea’s, etc.

- Quote of the week for me: “End-to-end encryption is kind of table stakes these days,” said by Wickr CEO Joel Wallenstrom to Wired. Needle moved. Looking forward to the update of EFF’s Secure Messaging Scorecard when it comes out.
- There are many good articles on ArsTechnica, as usual, but one that stuck out for me is the glitch-art scarfs based on stuxnet. Along with the fact that #temperatureblankets are a thing 2017 might just have to be the year of snuggling with data for me.
