CRASH Talk: Emergent Systems in Peer to Peer Networks [6:30pm Wednesday November 2nd]
Peer to peer networks are an attractive alternative to traditional client-server architecture. While being more resilient to damage and failure, they present a new set of design challenges and opportunities. Something explored only somewhat is the role of complex adaptive systems applied to peer to peer networks. While CDNs and sensor networks may already rely on more complex behavior, the possibilities are left mostly unexplored. In this talk I’ll discuss a proof of concept network I’ve created to allow users to assign arbitrary optimization tasks to a peer to peer network for that network to solve on its own.
