Flamethrowers! Arduinos! Monomes! This Wednesday, April 7th
Crasher Kevin Nelson will be exploring and discussing a flamethrower step sequencer design that he came up with at Burning Man. The design involves interfacing an Arduino, Max/MSP, and a monome. Since we can’t bring flamethrowers into the space, we’ll use LEDs to demonstrate the design. This talk will introduce at a high level the main topics that will be covered in the Arduino/dataflow CrashCourse in May. Talk is free for members, 10$ suggested donation for nonmembers to help keep us alive!
Kevin Nelson graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a degree in Computer Engineering and a minor in Electronic Music. While at Santa Cruz, Kevin served as the chair of the IEEE Student Branch, where he increased membership, by hosting social activities, engineering competitions, and guest lectures. He also worked as a teaching assistant and lab tutor for several computer engineering courses ranging from introductory level to upper division. He has spoken about monome devices at the Bay Area Computer Music Technology group (BArCMuT), and hosted a live Max/MSP patching session at the 2009 Monomeet in Princeton, NJ. Kevin currently works at a music technology startup in Calabasas, CA, where he designs and codes software.

can someone update the calendar?
Good point. Since it is a repeating event I didn’t think of it… Sean would’ve! Opps!
Schedule a class for another night besides Wednesday! I’m all over this, but got another ongoing obligation on Wednesdays evenings!
Come by Crash Space I have free copies of Transmission OS to give out.
Thank you
