Labyrinth of Jareth Roundup
Every summer thousands dance the night away at the Labyrinth Masquerade Ball, an immersive fantasy ball themed around the movie Labyrinth. Attendees spend weeks to months preparing their outfits, and we’ve collected some of our favorites from the CRASH community below!
Name: Sallia
Project: I already owned the dress and gold butterfly wall decor. I’ve been wanting to do something with servo motors. I hand stitched wall decor butterflies onto the dress and used Arduino ide to program the servos.

Name: Liz (author’s note: fearless president of CRASH)
Project: I made my dress and his shirt and vest. My dress is based on McCalls M7885 and his vest is based on Butterick B457. I was going for a woodland princess vibe and matched his costume accordingly.
Name: Reed (@reedingwright or @reeding.wright)
Project: Loosely edwardian ghosts. We would act surprised that people could see us, which was fun. As to how I made it, mostly machine sewing, some hand sewing (particularly hand sewing on the hat). I patterned the hat out of construction paper and used that as my mockup, and made it from fabric + buckram.

Name – Toli C.
Character – Warden of Owl
Project: I didn’t make anything for this costume. It’s gathered from a suit I picked up for a friend’s wedding years back, a cape from the LA Opera sale, and a mask from Amazon. I was gifted a number of golden temporary tattoos by friends while getting ready for the ball.

Throwback! Former president Justin, Emily, board member Rachel, Nouk, and Matt Pinner in 2013. Did you know the event is almost 30 years old?
