Bookbinding Workshops

Announcing a series of bookbinding workshops this winter. Learn how to make books by hand! Pocket notebooks, hardcover books, and protective slipcases.

Bookbinding 0 (zero) – Thursday October 29 8:00-10:00 PM – Basic Tools. We need help preparing for upcoming classes. We’ll make tools to use for the Bookbinding 1-3 workshops – bench hooks for cutting, wrapped bricks for pressing, and corner jigs for covering hardcover books. No books will be bound, but you’ll learn useful skills and help us to be ready for the other workshops. $10, but you will get a discount code for a future bookbinding workshop to thank you for your help.

Bookbinding 1 – Friday November 20 8:00-10:00 PM – Pocket Notebook. Make a pair of hand-stitched 4.25 x 5.5″ notebooks with decorative soft covers. $25.

Bookbinding 2 – Wednesday December 23 & 30 7:00-10:00 PM – Hardcover Book. Make a A5 sized blank notebook with hard cover, with an optional place to add 4×6″ photo. This is a two-session workshop and attending both sessions will be necessary to complete the project. $100.

Bookbinding 3 – Friday January 15 & 22, 2027 7:00-10:00 PM – Slipcase. Learn the basics of making boxes and creating a slipcase to fit the notebook from Bookbinding 2 or another book you own if you did not take Bookbinding 2. This is a two-session workshop and attending both sessions will be necessary to complete the project. $100.

No experience is necessary, though taking the prior bookbinding classes will be helpful. All tools and materials will be provided.
