CRASH Talk: Computer Viruses and Self-Replicating Code [6:30pm Saturday August 20th]
People often use the terms “virus” and “malware” interchangeably. While viruses are often malware, a given piece of malware may not be a virus. In this talk I’ll walk through the differences and how one might go about implementing code that behaves like a biological virus would. We’ll discuss design principles as well as methods to make analysis more difficult for security analysts. Finally, I’ll go through a real example and provide resources for learning more.
