Butterfly Pavilion @ Museum of Natural History
There’s still time to see this year’s Butterfly Pavilion at LA’s Natural History Museum (open until August 25th).
Apparently butterflies are the cats of the insect world (“beautiful little jerks“). The pavilion requires an extra fee and reservation, but revenue goes to support El Bosque Nuevo‘s conservation efforts. To get a preview download the guide.
Inside the museum make sure to check out the Becoming Los Angeles exhibit. It covers more of the social history of Los Angeles. The ofrenda at the end connected the main building to the butterfly pavilion for me, a visual wonder about a city where caterpillars of all kinds burst into a new life.
AND you can get there by taking the Metro E (Expo) Line to the USC/Expo station.
